Ma Soeur, Mon Amie pour la vie (French) - My Sister, My Friend for life (English)

6th May 2008. This poem is an inspiration from and an ode to the World’s Most Wonderful sister, in the true sense, my sister Sudha. Wonder how I would have walked through life  without her.  Read on..

ü My beautiful sister, our  journey in life began one fine day,
When I cried my way into this world in 1979 on an April day.
Thats when you rejoiced as you commenced holding me in your arms,
Each time I endured pain or was subjected to any kind of harm.

ü Surely and gradually you grew into my cushion of joy and cheers,
I loved chatting and spending the wee hours of the morning, laughing to tears.
Marking the beginning of a great friendship as I would drive,
Through life’s long road, its twists and turns, managing to survive.

ü You have always been my inspiration to rise higher,
Reaching for goals that seemed mightier.
You set benchmarks that had no upper limits,
Helping me realize that life’s milestones always had re-definable limits.

ü The fighter and winner in you, assists me in seeing the light in every situation,
Add new perspectives encountering a myriad of emotions.
I see the light of the Almighty showering brightly on you,
As not all human-beings think sharply and feel deeply as much as you.

ü To describe what you mean to me, my vocabulary would surely have to be huge,
And without you I would affirmatively be in many an unpleasant deluge.
It amazes and inspires me to know how much you have given to dear ones and life from the very start,
That can only further summarise how beautiful you are at heart!

ü What amazes me , is your ever-flowing energy that you shower consistently through life,
Never once complaining about the pain you would undergo in your strife.
As you make every effort to make that little difference in many lives,
Brightening little moments and touching numerous lives.

ü You have always proved , consistently, to be victorious in every role you play,
As a mother, wife, daughter, sister, friend, supervisor, you are a winner – and are here to stay.
You never stop trying to do better, to help others grow greatly,
Lighting lamps in peoples’ lives, working with them closely.

ü I could go on for an eternity to thank you for all those lovely moments,
That you have made special for our family, even amidst your whirlwind moments.
My earnest prayer to the Almighty would be to grace you further,
As you spread His radiance around the world now and forever.

ü As I reach the last stanza of this poem that I dedicate to you,
I wish to thank God for His wonderful gift to me – of a sister like you.
Its definitely to the credit of our parents that they gifted the world with a torch – bearer-
A wonderful human-being, a hope that the world will continue to be beautiful with people such as you, now and forever!

The arrival of our Sweet Angel

Dear all,

This poem is inspired by the beauty that our daughter brought into our lives. Children are truly God's gifts to us. Read on...

  • It was a sacred night when the stars shone and you came into our life as a light,
A blissful angel with her little fingers curled up and sleeping tight,
Feeling your gentle caress and tiny little fingers holding me so tenderly,
Announce the onset of a beautiful motherly experience, to unfold steadily.

  • Every time you called me "Amma" / "Mummy" with your sweet chirpy voice,
It was like walking through soft breeze blowing across vast green fields of rice,
Experiencing the beauty of motherhood like walking through a fragrant rose garden,
Seeing a beautiful Rainbow across the hills, while my sleep bereft moist eyes harden.

  • Each time I look at your face, its like viewing a blossoming flower,
Falling short of words to describe the wonder and sheer innocence in your eyes spill over.
The cooing sounds that you churn out of your being,
Seem like honey pouring in, relaxing my entire living being.

  • As days turn to months and months turn to years,
The process of growing in love and warmth continues, moving us to tears.
The charm of your radiance, bliss and curiosity, that you brought into our lives,
Transformed our souls , inspiring us to create a similar difference in other people's lives.

  • I pray to the Almighty that He may bless us to nurture you,
To help you grow and realize a life of abundance and the great potential in you.
Through a life filled with immense love, warmth, beauty and radiance showered by us,
Such that you may be able to re-tribute the same to the world around, gratifying us.

The Hero within

Dear all,

This poem is inspired by the inner strength that I experience as I face new challenges to deal with. Each one of us has a "Hero" within us, its when we realize this , that we tend to have no fear to face difficult situations. Read on...

  • The clock ticks by and the trees sway away with time,
The winds of change suddenly blow hard, challenging our inner glow shine.
As the sense of survival against odds surfaces high,
The soul promises to grow stronger with a sigh.

  • There are a million questions that rise to test the mind,
That weave hypothetical situations that may arise about the daily grind.
The fear of losing the battle of survival seems to surge,
Diluting the very purpose of life's essence, to successfully emerge.

  • That's when the soul befriends the "HERO" lying dormant within ,
Which helps us understand and assess the depth of our true strength lying in,
The "HERO" is our visionary to foresee the light of the day,
And to experience the brilliance of sunshine on the other side of the bay.

  •  The "HERO" unites with the self,
And releases every doubtful belief off the shelf.
The "HERO's" power transforms the soul to unreal heights,
Over-ruling any forthcoming danger and setting things right.

  • Its not surprising to see brave heart warriors win Life's game,
As their unstinting spirits set afire the pace and tame,
The wild mind horses that run in different directions,
That often freeze the process of the soul's resurrection.

  • So my dear friend, unite with the "HERO" sitting deep within,
Composed of virtues - courage, kindness, empathy, compassion, free of sin,
For that's the crucial weapon to empower yourself and fight,
Through the difficult times, growing each time with a greater sense of might.

The impending Harvest

This poem has been written by myself when I was on the verge of moving into another phase of my life – motherhood. This poem is the reflection of the emotions and feelings, experienced as I embrace motherhood. Read on...

  • As the sun’s resplendent rays spread their brilliant light over the countryside,
My being looks yearningly to trespass the new pasture over to the other side.
The wait to reap the fruits of the harvest seems unendingly long,
While I prepare to build my energies to spend sleepless nights humming sweet songs.

  • Nature has a time for each occurrence -
Be it the process of reaping or post harvesting threshing of the grain in recurrence.
The secret to a good harvest is a concentrated effort to reap a successful one,
With an undivided focus to achieve the highest quality in each one.

  • Destiny has its own plan laid out as the mother wishes to mould her little child,
To face a path, equally laid out with flowers and thorns so wild.
Despite the mother being sceptical about her child’s journey across life,
She prepares to build in her child, courage and strength of character, to face all the rigorous strife.

  • The critical part of the Harvest season wait for the mother,
Is the test of her patience to tide over the lake of time to another,
Place of divine grace that showers in the beauties of motherhood,
Filling into her life, moments of bliss and pain - the two sides of parenthood.

  • Thus as the best is saved for the last, my friend,
The mother-to-be must gradually traverse through the tunnel of time and spend,
Her time exploring the grace of each moment to its potential best,
Living by example for her child, exuberating life’s omnipresent zest.

Trail of unending Aspirations

Hi all,

This poem is the reflection of the unending trail of aspirations, which my soul yearns to fulfill.  It also reflects the challenges that the human soul experiences as a means of trying to fulfill these aspirations.
Read on...

  • Rise the dawn of a new day and yet there is a sense of restless wanting,
To fulfill the dreams that emerge from deep desires, creating a sense of haunting,
As they bring with them the same distaste of years of craving,
That disolutions the mind, eroding it, of the mind's healthy (thought) savings.

  • The restless mind yearns to reach for the stars,
Knowing that the ship has barely commenced its journey to sail to the shores afar.
The level of patience evaporates, creating many thoughtless sins,
But it is the courage of the soul within that must surpass the frustrations within.

  •  I ask myself when will it be time for my trail of aspirations to be fulfilled ?
The echo of my question, hits me right back, muffled.
While I gaze listlessly at the tall wall ahead,
I realize that only through sheer planned hard work and prayers, will situations move ahead.

  • It is for me  to believe in my ability to suceed beyond imagination,
The greater the level of energized perseverance, the lower will be the level of saturation.
The greater the composure to accept gradual progress,
The lesser the chances that the mind crashes into a state of high stress.

  • So free your mind, my dear friend,  from the clenches of regenerating aspirations,
Free yourself from experiencing baseless desperations,
For it is only the wise, patient man who will pursue goals relentlessly,
Never accepting defeat, with a determined life outlook, progressing graciously.

A Child's Innocence

Hi all,

This poem is inspired by the Innocence of my nephew, at his very best in April 2012. Read on ...

·         =>A child smiles and in the environment flowers bloom
The gentle breeze brushes away a day’s gloom.
As another beautiful day unfolds,
It’s an opportunity to create memories multi-fold.

·         => As the child caresses its mother, whispering sweet nothings,
Celebrating the joy of each moment’s existence in everything,
The child embraces the beauty of life as heaven’s very best,
Dancing to nature’s rhythm in absolute zest.

·         =>It’s a whole new world of abundant  tender innocence,
That has emerged through the child’s mischievous  pretence,
God’s  angel touches the core of the inner being,
Bringing out the child hidden inside each human being.

·         =>All of the universe is a festival of the celestial bliss,
Overflowing  with the love of a child’s heavenly kiss.
These children are stars, who spread God’s radiance that surround,
Existence with innocence and beauty all around.

I will rise

Hi all,

This poem is to inspire all of you lovely people, to go out there and say that you can do it all... that you will rise with the motto of "I will rise" (above challenges). Read on....

Ø The sun sets at the horizon,

I review myself within, minutes by the dozen,

The music within me lies low,

Waiting to rise, as seeds of growth are sown.

Ø The human mind is a complex architecture,

Nurturing a thousand thoughts that structure,

One’s approach towards the goal,

Which is the ultimate destination of the soul !

Ø As one experiences a thousand emotions,

The challenge is to overcome those with potions,

Of courage, belief, inspiration in our dreams -

Dreams which have ignited us to traverse through life’s rigorous stream.

Ø “I will rise” is the motto that the hero within urges,

“The steeper my fall, the greater I will rise” - the soul must emerge,

To inspire the generations to follow similar footsteps,

As we continue to throw light (for others), to cross the unending tunnel, with our brave steps.

Ø “I will rise” is the motto that finally will assist the spirit to win,

That will encompass all of the lows, like a fierce Tornado, crushing sin.

Remember my friend, in all of the books of history, one will find for sure,

That it is just the Rising Spirit of a common man, that has radiated power in its greatest measure.
